Community Conversation – Restoring Economic Mobility for Hoosier Families
Following our research on the Cliff Effect - How Policy Design Acts as a Disincentive Towards Economic Mobility, the Institute embarked on a year-long 'Consensus Building Campaign' with Indiana lawmakers and state agencies to inform them of the issue and to solicit meaningful policy recommendations.
Our next initiative surrounding this campaign is to reach out to Hoosier communities to discuss the problem with nonprofit service-providers and working families across the state who experience firsthand the poverty traps, barriers to employment and a general roadblock to economic self-sufficiency hidden within current policy design. These 'Community Conversations' will also offer advocacy opportunities to Restore Economic Mobility at the Indiana Statehouse on January 29th at 1:00 PM.
